Family Shoots

Corne het my aanvanklik gekontak vir 'n kwotasie vir kommersiële foto's vir die bestuur van hul maatskappy, maar toe besluit om solank familie foto's ook te laat neem. Per toeval stel ons toe vas dat sy my pa en broer goed ken deur besigheid en dit was vir my heerlik om self ook vir haar en haar familie te leer ken. Hulle is die wonderlikste, liefdevolste ne saggeaardste mense wat jy jou kan voorstel! En die twee seuntjies is net te pragtig vir woorde!!! Dit was heerlik om 'n Saterdag oggend saam met julle te kon deurbring, dankie!

Debbie's brother, Mark, and his family were here recently on a visit from the UK and they decided to have some photos taken of both their families together with their mom. We spent the morning at the beautiful Vergelegen Estate. The kids enjoyed the perfect weather and wide open spaces and tried to endure the occasional hindrance of a photographer trying to take some photos of them - with the exception of Mia who just loved the camera and is extremely photogenic. A true model in the making. It was a wonderful pleasure meeting this warm and a friendly family. Thanks for all your patience with me and the kids whilst capturing these images. I hope you enjoy them! It's just too cute how he doesn't actually want to touch his siter's shoulder ..... how could I possibly expect that of him, she's a girl!!! :-)

Gena en Kruger is sulke lekker gemaklike mense. As jy hulle ontmoet voel dit sommer asof jy hulle jare lank al ken! Hulle en hulle pragtige twee kindertjies is so vol energie en lewenslus, dis skoon aansteeklik. Dit was heerlik om julle gesin te ontmoet, ek het die tydjie saam met julle terdee geniet!

Natasha and Theo got engaged recently and wanted some photos taken before their family returns to Holland. They are such a playful and happy family, it's clear they enjoy each other's company tremendously. I had so much fun photographing them, I can only hope that all my shoots for 2011 will be this merry! Safe travels guys, it was honestly a pleasure meeting you all!

I met 9 month old Zetske, her mom and grandmother at the beautiful Vergelegen Estate for a photo shoot. The first thing I noticed was Zetske's absolutely gorgeous, piercing, ice-blue eyes, but the poor girl missed her nap and those gorgeous eyes didn't shine quite as bright as they could. We did what we could for a little while, but photo's should be fun and a conjure up a fond memory every time you look at them, so I suggested we do another get together at their home where Zetske feels most comfortable. I couldn't believe the transformation when I saw her the next day! She was bubbly, playful and funny, and those eyes!! Never underestimate the power of a good nap! ;-) And then the real Zetske came out..... :-)

Carla en Tiaan truly are two excited little bundles of energy. Their mom wanted to have some photos taken on the beach, but these two just couldn't be bothered with mom and this photo-lady who wanted them to stay put for a few shots. After entertaining us for a while (like two mini-models!), the allure of sea and sand won. They were running and jumping and soon enough the inviting ocean became irresistible and the shoot was over! These two reminded me that it should be my daily aspiration not to ever lose that childish zest for life.

Lizl and I went to high school together in Windhoek and I was just thrilled when she asked me to take some family photos of them. It was great to see her again after so many years! They are a lovely family with the two most adorable kids. Thanks for the opportunity Lizl, I had so much fun with you and your family!

There is nothing more beautiful than a perfect winter's day in Cape Town. The week before I photographed the Strauss family every day was pleasant and sunny, but when I woke up on the morning of the shoot, it was cold and a heavy, thick mist lay on the ground. After postponing for a few hours to see what happens, the mist finally started to clear up and there was a nice bright cloud cover, a natural light photographer's dream. But when I finally took out my camera to start shooting, the sun broke through and I had to deal with harsh mid-day shadows. Trust the beautiful Cape to give you three seasons in one morning! It ended up being another fantastic day spent with a wonderful family. Their love for nature and each other was inspiring. Ons bure wou graag 'n paar foto's van hulle pragtige 17 maande oue dogtertjie laat neem en ek was maar te bly vir die geleentheid om op nog kindertjies te kan oefen anders as my eie! Lily is die soetste, oulikste (en mooiste!) dogtertjie wat jy jou kan indink, maar lekker woelig en heeltyd aan die ontdek en ondersoek. Dit was heerlik om haar af te neem!

My eerste amptelike "photo shoot"! Ek het letterlik 'n paar aande gelede in die bed gelê en besluit dis tyd dat ek iets meer maak van my fotografie. Ek is geseënd met 'n klomp aantreklike en baie fotogeniese familielede, so wie beter as hulle om in te span as proefkonyne. Ek het 'n afspraak gemaak met hulle, myself 'n vaste tyd gegee waarbinne ek die sessie moes afhandel en als hanteer asof hulle my eerste werklike kliënte was. My skoonsus Carina en haar twee pragtige dogtertjies (Clara-Marie en Pippa) was baie gewillige modelle en het dalk als baie makliker gemaak as wat dit veronderstel is om te wees! Maar die hele ervaring was soveel pret dat ek verseker hierdie nuwe onderneming gaan voortsit, kom wat wil. En wat 'n voorreg sal dit nie wees om iets wat mens so geniet as 'n "werk" te doen nie.
