Keith and Carina is getting married in October and I was very excited when they asked me to be their wedding photographer. In preparation for the big day, we went for a fun engagement shoot to get to know each other better and to get them more accustomed to the lens. With spring in the air and blossoms everywhere we got just the perfect backdrop for engagement photos!
There is nothing more beautiful than a perfect winter's day in Cape Town. The week before I photographed the Strauss family every day was pleasant and sunny, but when I woke up on the morning of the shoot, it was cold and a heavy, thick mist lay on the ground. After postponing for a few hours to see what happens, the mist finally started to clear up and there was a nice bright cloud cover, a natural light photographer's dream. But when I finally took out my camera to start shooting, the sun broke through and I had to deal with harsh mid-day shadows. Trust the beautiful Cape to give you three seasons in one morning! As a young aspiring actress in the making Brin needed headshots for her actor's portfolio/resume. I couldn't believe my eyes when this shy girl I met a few hours earlier blossomed into a model when we started shooting! It is clear that she belongs in front of the camera and I wish her all the best for the future! Thanks to Sonja who did her hair and Deidre for the make-up.
Ons bure wou graag 'n paar foto's van hulle pragtige 17 maande oue dogtertjie laat neem en ek was maar te bly vir die geleentheid om op nog kindertjies te kan oefen anders as my eie! Lily is die soetste, oulikste (en mooiste!) dogtertjie wat jy jou kan indink, maar lekker woelig en heeltyd aan die ontdek en ondersoek. Dit was heerlik om haar af te neem!
Maria (my ander uiters fotogeniese skoonsuster!) is 'n baie talentvolle klarinetspeler en het foto's nodig gehad vir haar webwerf. Ek en sy het Stellenbosch ingevaar met 'n paar uitrusting en 'n paar rowwe idees van hoe die foto's moet lyk, maar toe ons eers begin het ons altwee so opgewonde en meegevoer geraak dat die fotosessie basies 'n lewe van sy eie gekry het. Maria het kans gesien vir enige iets en het selfs met haar trourok 'n groot ou eikeboom ingevaar wat in die middel van die pad staan! Dit was vet pret, dankie Maria! Ek wil amper sover gaan as om te se dat "portrait shoots" sover my gunsteling is. :-)
My eerste amptelike "photo shoot"! Ek het letterlik 'n paar aande gelede in die bed gelê en besluit dis tyd dat ek iets meer maak van my fotografie. Ek is geseënd met 'n klomp aantreklike en baie fotogeniese familielede, so wie beter as hulle om in te span as proefkonyne. Ek het 'n afspraak gemaak met hulle, myself 'n vaste tyd gegee waarbinne ek die sessie moes afhandel en als hanteer asof hulle my eerste werklike kliënte was. My skoonsus Carina en haar twee pragtige dogtertjies (Clara-Marie en Pippa) was baie gewillige modelle en het dalk als baie makliker gemaak as wat dit veronderstel is om te wees! Maar die hele ervaring was soveel pret dat ek verseker hierdie nuwe onderneming gaan voortsit, kom wat wil. En wat 'n voorreg sal dit nie wees om iets wat mens so geniet as 'n "werk" te doen nie. Dankie julle drie!!
